Theo needs a home

THEO NEEDS A HOME
This is Theo – his name is short for Theodore, which means “Gift of God.” He still acts like a naughty puppy, but is really a neutered 9-10-year-old male Wheaten Terrier. He was adopted at the age of 2 years from a Wheaten Terrier Rescue group because of his incompatibility with small children. He has always had terrible separation anxiety and is fearful of strangers. As a younger dog, he loved to chase cats, deer and boys on skateboards. He is older now, has slowed down a bit and does not get as excitable – he ignores cats and deer most of the time, but can still get worked up over skateboards or other male dogs in his territory.
His present owners have two children who are now at college, so the house he lives in is very quiet. His owners are two professionals who are not at home very much. Theo is lonely, anxious, and unfortunately defecating and urinating in the mudroom (he has a doggie door but sometimes won’t use it) and most recently nipped the finger of one of his owners. They cannot have guests over because Theo barks neurotically when anyone is visiting, and has been known to nip visitors.
The sad part is that Theo is a good dog. He desperately wants to love one owner and to lie at their feet or on the nearest couch. He has many good qualities – he is not interested in walking so does not require long walks; he loves car rides in which he goes to sleep rapidly and does not throw up; he does not sleep on your bed – he likes to greet you but prefers having a couch or dog bed close to your bed. He has a good appetite and will eat anything you offer him without vomiting, bloating or getting diarrhea – he loves sushi (but not pickled ginger), roast chicken, roast vegetables, muffins, sandwiches, Mexican food and pasta. You can feed him what you eat and never worry about buying dog food.
Theo is on 40 mg Prozac per day. He eats it in a slice of American cheese. He is also allergic to many environmental variables such as pollen, grass, dust mites and human beings. His allergies flare up in the spring and fall. He has received desensitization injections and responded well to them.
If you adopt Theo, we will stock you up on Prozac and desensitization shots.
